Creating A Marketing Plan That Works For You

In Strategy and Tips by Annelise

Today we’re going deeper from last week where I dished out some tough love around having a marketing plan and working the plan.

Just put what you have to do in the calendar and do it. That’s it – not so hard. Just schedule it, and do it.

Not so hard for a business strategist sitting in an office right – buuuut we can make it work for you, and today I’m going to tell you how.

OK step one is create your vision.

Vision

What is it that you want from your business? What is it that you started your business to achieve?

It’s really easy to lose sight of that.

But we need to sit down and let our imagination run wild. We only live once, life’s too flipping short to waste it doing something we’re not loving. So if you have created yourself a job you hate, it’s time to start building a business that works for you, not the other way around.

So start with the vision. Do this in whatever way is going to get you at your most creative.

Grab a coffee and stand in front of a white board, rip pictures out of a magazine, put your feet up with a bevvy and a scribble in a journal – whatever works.

Once you’ve got your vision, you need a strategy.

Strategy

This is the part that so many get stuck. Or they put a strategy together and stick with it for 2 weeks, then ditch it saying that it didn’t work for them.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news – but nothing is going to work if you’re not willing to stick with it for MONTHS. Even YEARS.

It’s hard to grow a business. Especially one that has the right foundation to allow you to create the life you want for you and your family.

Ladies, if you need a strategy, let’s talk. I can help you create one.

My expertise is in creating strategy for service based business owners who want to seriously up their digital marketing game organically.

Strategy often needs someone else to help us see the best path. We’re too close to the forest to see the trees, where as someone outside our business can see what we can’t. They can see our blindspots and the levers we can’t, or that we’re avoiding.

Once you have your overarching strategy, we need a plan of attack.

Plan

An actual daily, weekly, monthly action list of things to execute. Now this comes back to what we spoke about last week. It’s about having a plan, and doing it, even when it doesn’t look like we’re getting results, even when we don’t feel like it & even if we think we don’t have time.

If your strategy is well thought out, and viable, your plan needs to be implemented to make it happen.

So start. Create the plan and work the plan. Day in and day out. Consistency is what it’s going to take.

Again the strategy I help my clients create comes with a daily marketing plan.

When we’re talking about the plan, it’s the daily action steps that you need to tick off your (or you team members) list every single day. There should never be a day when some form of lead generation or nurturing or sales event isn’t happening in your business.

Once you’ve got your plan, you need the skill to implement it.

Tactics

This is the tactics. This is how you use Instagram or implement your Facebook ads, or make sure you’re incorporating SEO into your blog posts and your other content.

This is where you have to upskill yourself or a team member, or hire someone who knows how to do these things. It’s not rocket science, it’s a skill to be learned just like anything else.

This is also where we can help. Our Marketing Mentor Program teaches the tactics you need to successfully implement your plan in a profitable, effective way.

You can meet with our marketing team twice a week, ask questions, and get real tangible feedback on your campaigns. If you’re not up for the program, just get in touch with me. Let me know what you need help with and I’ll point you in the right direction in terms of podcast episodes or videos or short courses we’ve got available.

We’re also offering free 30 minute consults at the moment, so get in touch with me if you’d like some additional support around strategy and implementation.

Thanks so much for tuning in today and I’ll see you next week!
